Volunteer for the Red Cross to Help Your Neighbors

This message is from one of the readers of Sorority Mom. Volunteering for the Red Cross in your community is something House Directors could do during the day when the students are at school and the day is yours.

“The American Red Cross served more than 470,000 meals and snacks to individuals affected by Hurricane Isaac. This endeavor depended on volunteers who understand what it takes to provide mass feeding. As a house director, you have the skills, knowledge, and interests that would benefit the Red Cross in local communities and at the national level. Whether you are retired, currently working, or seeking a volunteer position, consider joining the Red Cross in our mission to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of disaster by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. A variety of volunteer positions in Mass Care/Feeding are available around the country. If you live in the central Illinois area and are considering fulfilling our need for feeding volunteers, you can contact me at emily.richards@redcross.org. No matter where you live, please visit www.redcross.org to connect with your local chapter and find out how you can lend a hand. Thank you for the positive impact you have on university and college campuses. Together, we can meet the needs of all our communities.”
